Louise Evelina du Pont (1877-1958) was the daughter of Henry A. du Pont (1838-1926) and Pauline Foster du Pont (1849-1902). She was born, raised, and educated at the family estate, Winterthur, north of Wilmington, Delaware. Mary Pauline Foster was the daughter of Herman Ten Eyck Foster (d. 1869) and Mary Pauline Lentilhon Foster (1825-1849) of New York. She was born at the family estate, Lakeland, near Geneva.
